In 1912 competing electric rail companies Boise Valley Railway, with tracks extending from Boise to Nampa along Ustick and Franklin, and Boise & Interurban Railway, with tracks extending from Boise to Caldwell along State Street, merged together and built a connecting rail between Nampa and Caldwell. This created a popular weekend excursion, the “Boise Valley Loop,” which offered rides from Boise to Caldwell with stops at popular recreational areas along the way for picnics and boating.
